SF double-layer tank is a large oil storage facility that inevitably poses the risk of fire and explosion due to the storage of a large amount of flammable and explosive fuel. Improper use can cause significant economic losses, environmental damage, and even accidents resulting in casualties. The following are several factors that can cause fires or explosions in SF double-layer tanks.
Analysis of the reasons for the explosion of SF double-layer tank
1、 Open flame
The SF double-layer tank fire accident caused by open flames ranks first among all accidents. Usually caused by poor hot work management or inadequate measures during the use of electrical, welding, and oil storage equipment. Another important hazard is the use of lighters, matches, smoking, and other behaviors within the restricted area of the oil depot.
2、 Spontaneous combustion
Spontaneous combustion refers to the process in which oil materials undergo oxidation-reduction reactions and generate heat without external ignition sources, gradually reaching the self ignition point and starting to burn. Generally speaking, there are three main reasons for the spontaneous combustion of SF double-layer tanks: electrostatic spontaneous combustion, sulfur spontaneous combustion, and phosphine spontaneous combustion.
3、 Thunder and lightning
The oil and gas mixture near the SF double-layer tank caught fire due to lightning, which is also one of the causes of the fire. Large SF double-layer tanks should adopt lightning protection and anti-static safety measures, such as installing lightning rods to prevent lightning from entering the tank area and lightning strikes. Feasibility studies and analysis should also be conducted.
4、 Violation operation
Violation of commands and operations is also a hidden danger that can cause fires. Staff should pay attention to wearing anti-static work clothes and not wear synthetic clothing or rubber shoes to work.
The safety issues of large-scale oil storage facilities cannot be ignored. Many SF double-layer tank fires and explosions are caused by violations of rules and regulations in details. This requires every staff member in the oil storage restricted area to abide by work discipline and avoid accidents.
